  • Lumbar fascia
  • Costal cartilages of the lower 6 ribs
  • Inner surfaces of the lower 6 ribs
  • Lateral third of the inguinal ligament
  • Front of the iliac crest of the ilium

Insertion

  • Abdominal aponeurosis
  • Linea alba
  • Pectineal line of the Pubis
  • Pubis crest of the Pubis

Function

  • Intra-abdominal pressure
  • Respiration
  • Supports the abdominal viscera
