Brachialis Muscle:

It is located on lower part of the upper arm. Specifically, it is found underneath the biceps brachii (i.e. the biceps) and extends out on both sides of it. Thus, it is also referred to as the "lower biceps" due to this location.

It is similar to the biceps not only in terms of proximity, but also in terms of function. It, too, is responsible for elbow flexion. Although, it is more active when the arm is isostatically flexed (i.e. tensed, but not moving).

  • Elbow Flexion. Bending the arm at the elbow joint, such as the movement of "making a muscle" with your arm.

Anatomy

  • Anterior. Front.
  • Coronoid Process of the Ulna. A bony, triangular projection on the front, upper region of the ulna (inner forearm bone).
  • Humerus. Upper Arm Bone.
  • Ulna. The forearm bone, located on the medial (toward the inside) side of the elbow.
